1) All of the Harry Potter books What can I say, I have tried to read the first one, and seen the first movie, and I am JUST NOT THAT INTO THEM!
2) The Lightning Thief series
Despite being VERY popular with my middle school students, I just don't jive with the sci-fi/fantasy...and they always tell me, "they're not that much sci-fi Mrs. Horne!"
3) The Phantom Tollbooth
Yes I know, this is a classic, but for some reason I don't think I have read it - and if I have, it must not have left much of an impression on me!
4) Old Yeller
I have seen the movie, and it took an entire box of tissues to get through it - I am not interested in going through that again!
5) Chronicles of Narnia series

6) Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Just not that interested in mysteries, reading one now and it is taking me forever!
7) Raisin in the Sun
I haven't thought a lot about this book, but people say it is good and the title is intriguing.

8) To Kill a Mockingbird
This technically shouldn't be on the list since I have read it, but it deserves a re-read since it was so long ago and the details are fuzzy.
9) Gone With the WindLOVE, LOVE, LOVE the movie (what Southern Belle doesn't?), haven't read the book though?
10) The Little Prince
I have this book at home because it is on all of the top recommended children's books lists, but I have never cracked the spine...it's about time!

ReplyDeleteThe only one of your list that I haven't read is A Raisin in the Sun! Being a slightly wacky, weird, and unc9onventional type, sci fi and fantasy are my bread and butter! I cried buckets over Old Yeller, too, and still cringe and tear up when anyone shows a dog or cat killed in a movie! Couldn't bear Black Beauty - too much empathy with the horse! A suggestion: Try any one of Rosemary Sutclif's novels, especially Dawn Wind. I think you'd like them and some of your sharper tacks in the classroom who have an interest in history might as well! One of hers, Eagle of the Ninth, has just been released as a movie - I may see it or may not. I am easily disappointed when a well-loved book is butchered for the cinema! Keep blogging, dear girl!
