Author Spotlight & Interview: Desiree Holt

I am delighted to share this author with you today, she is my final post on this tour and I have really been lucky to "get to know" so many great authors through it! This tour is set-up by Marissa over at Sizzling PR and I send many thanks to her!

About the Author:

Desiree Holt has lived a life of excitement that brings the color to her writing. She was a summer fishing guide, a summer field hand where she was one of only three women working, a member of a beginning ski team that skied in competition (and no, no broken bones!). She spent several years in the music business representing every kind of artist from country singer to heavy metal rock bands. For several years she also ran her own public relations agency handling any client that interested her. She is twice a finalist for an EPIC E-Book Award, a nominee for a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award, winner of the first 5 Heart Sweetheart of the Year Award at The Romance Studio, and is published by four different houses. Romance Junkies said of her work: “Desiree Holt is the most amazing erotica author of our time and each story is more fulfilling then the last.”

And in high school Seventeenth Summer, my first romance book

3.    What are your top five authors?

OMG! Too numerous to name. All the gals in our Sassy Seven group; Robyn Carr; Joey Hill. The list is endless. Too hard to pick 5.

4. What books are you an evangelist for?

Natural Law by Joey Hill
Blue Eyes by Lisa Kleypas

5. What books have you bought for the cover?

None. I buy based on the blurb.

6. What books have changed your life?

Cry No More by Linda Howard. It made me realize what I really wanted to write was romantic suspense
The Ice Queen by Joey Hill. It taught me that erotic romance and BDSM can be beautiful if it’s written properly. It kick started my desire to write romantic romance.

7. Describe being an author in three words.

Exhilarating. Exhausting. Frustrating/
8.  How would you encourage young people to write?

Learn your craft. Look for online workshops so you can learn your craft because it really is a lot more than just telling a story. Get your ideas down on paper so you remember them. Have faith and perseverance. And never, ever, ever give up.

9. What are your upcoming projects?

Out of Control, a really gritty erotic romance from The Wild Rose Press
Unconditional Surrender, Book One in the Attack for series from Total-e-bound
Erector Set, a three-novella series from Ellora’s Cave.
Dark Secrets, a long novella that’s part of a brand new western series from Decadent Publishing.
I’m also working on:
Blowout, the sequel to Do You Trust Me
Aftershock, the sequel to Joy Ride
Branded by Lust, Book Four: Night Seekers
Touch Me, Book Five: The Phoenix Agency
And be sure to check out my brand new release from Samhain Publishing, Stark Naked.
