Author Interview:

What book is on your nightstand now?

Hm. A bunch of slush (I read slush for Entangled Publishing). But, also on hold for me to read are: Ann Mayburn’s Wild Lilly, Clarissa Yip’s Tempting a Prince, and Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Obsidian. I love romance books, both adult and YA.

What was your favorite book when you were a child?

Highland Velvet by Jude Deveraux and Remembrance by Jude Deveraux. They are what started me on romance books, and I haven’t stopped yet. I was twelve. :D

What are your top five authors?

Oh, God. I don’t know if I can do this. I’ll try. Jude Deveraux, Johanna Lindsey, Teresa Medeiros, Christina Dodd, and Julia Quinn.

Whew. That took me five minutes to decide.

What books have you faked reading?

None! If I don’t like it—which is very rare—I put it down. Too many good books to read to waste time on one I don’t like!

What books are you an evangelist for?

Touch, by Jus Accardo. I absolutely adore it.

What books have you bought for the cover?

Hm. The Virgin and the Playboy, by Kate Richards. It’s hot.

What books have changed your life?

Too many to name. I would be here all day! I guess the Mallory Series by Johanna Lindsey. I eat up any and all things Mallory, but my favorites are Amy and Warren.

What is your favorite line from a book?

“We could get killed. Or worse…expelled.” Hermione from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

What inspired you to write your first book?

I had a vivid dream about an ending scene in Reclaimed. I can’t give much detail, but Isaac is on a cliff, making a decision that will change the rest of his life. A decision no one should have to make. The wind whipped his hair, in tune with his vicious mood. The scene was so demanding, I wrote it, sat down, and started the rest of the book.

Do you have a specific writing style?

Panster. I really don’t plot or plan. As I write, the characters surprise me as much as they do my reader! It can be so hard, at times, to give myself up to them. I want them to do what I want them to do—but they don’t listen.

How did you come up with the title?

The story is about finding the love of your life—for the second time. It was going to be called Darkness, but after a brainstorming session with my mom, we came up with Reclaimed. It fit the book so much better.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Yes: Love conquers all. Always does. Always will.
